GROUP EVENTS & TEAM BUILDING
Coming together on a Sporting Clays course is an outing like no other. Everyone's excited, a tad bit nervous, anticipating a day they know will be fun and challenging all while having a slight undertone of friendly competition.
Can you see why a day on a clays course is becoming more popular than a ho-hum golf outing!
Team building events and corporate outings on clays courses have become extremely popular in the last two years. Managers are seeing both men and women enjoy an event together like they haven't in the past. Colleagues support, compete and throw a little friendly heckling into the mix - all while being outside and working together in a new environment.
Groups of five or more get discounted pricing. Enquire by phone 704-491-0038 or contact us to receive details.F.A.Q.

Individual lessons, or sessions up to four students, are typically 2.5 hours. The first lesson will include safety review, eye dominance testing and gun fit. Sessions, following the initial lesson, are 2 hours.
Lessons with groups of 3 to 5 students are typically 3 hours.
All of our lessons, with the exception of the first lesson, are a minimum of two hours.
If you wish to take extended or multiple sessions, we recommend that you split the sessions to give yourself time to absorb what you’ve learned (For example; one session every other Saturday or one Saturday each month). We want you to practice between lessons.
The rationale for a two hour minimum is that shotgunning is best learned through repetitive action (kinesthetic learning). In order to see improvement or change to one’s mechanics or technique, immediate reinforcement and repetition produces lasting results.
- Shooting vest or non-cotton shirt (cotton shirts get “sticky” and tend to cause your gun to “catch” as you mount and dismount).
- Eye protection
- Ear protection (strongly recommend in-ear plugs instead of ear muffs)
- Shotgun (or let us know in advance that you need a loaner gun).
- Shotgun shells (or purchase them from the host club if available). To be safe bring 100 shells per session per student. This is a total number regardless of the number of participants…we won’t likely use this amount, but this is a safe number.
- Rain gear (we don’t cancel lessons for rain unless there is lightning), however, we also don’t make students shoot in heavy rain.
- Semi-auto shotgun users, please bring any and all shims with you if available. This allows us to adjust the fit of your gun as necessary.
- Bottled water is always good to have in a small cooler.
- Sun Screen (recommended)
- Bug Spray (recommended)
Private Lessons – Up to four people – you pay for the lesson the day of the lesson. You pay the course directly for targets, ammo, rental guns and carts. You pay us, Sporting Clay Experiences, $250 per person for instruction via Zelle, Venmo, cash, check or credit card. There is a 3% processing fee when credit cards are used.
Groups & Team Building Events – Five or more people – You will receive a group price. You pay us, Sporting Clay Xperiences (SCX), directly for preparation, facilitation and instruction via Venmo, Zelle, check or cash. We do take credit cards but there is a surcharge. Our fee is due five (5) days before the event, along with final headcount. There is no refund if that number decreases after payment is made or on the day of the event. If additional people attend their portion of the SCX Facilitation Fee is due within 24 hours of the conclusion of the event.
If lessons are cancelled due to severe weather, you will not pay for the time lost to weather and we will reschedule.
When booking a Retreat, trips are paid in full via website booking upon registration.
Wear outdoor appropriate clothing. Check the weather at the shooting range prior to arrival.
If it’s hot: shorts, a short sleeve shirt, hat (recommended) and shoes. Flip flops are ok to wear just know most locations have a good bit of dust. Shooting vests are always recommended.
If it’s cool/cold: long sleeve shirt, vest, jacket, pants, hat (recommended) and close toed shoes. There is time when you’re not shooting, so bring anything that will keep you warm and you can remove it when you shoot.
Eye and Ear protection are required at all times – for participants and spectators.
That’s what we do!
Fill out the Contact Us form and let us know where you want to shoot and we will be in touch to get particulars from you and create a plan together.
Or call/email me any time 704-491-0038 or sportingclayxperiences@gmail.com.
Absolutely!
Having fun as a family is part of this experience. We encourage family’s playing together!
The range will have a loaner for you to use.
Before the lesson we will discuss your loaner options and pricing so you’ll know exactly what to expect.
You can also book a demo and try a shotgun of your choice to see how it fits you and if you like how it shoots. Book a demo through our Contact page.
You book a Demo through our Contact page.
We will talk before the Demo to determine what kind of gun you’re looking for, what you want to use it for, length of the barrel you prefer and whether you need a right handed or left handed shotgun. I then either have that gun in stock or I go to work on getting that Demo gun, or the closest model to it.
We meet at a pre-determined facility. You bring 1 box of shells.
We typically go to 5-stand or station #1. Demoing a gun is not about breaking targets. It’s about how the gun feels & fits. You shoot 12 targets. Within those 12 targets you will get a good feel for how the gun fits you.
If you are demoing multiple guns, you will shoot roughly six shells from gun #1. Then you will shoot roughly six shells form gun #2. Then we’ll talk about each one. Then you will shoot a couple more shells from the gun you liked most. We will keep doing this until you’ve chosen your gun.
After you have demoed a gun, we fill out paperwork to order your gun right there at the course. If you pay by check it saves you the 3.5% bank processing fee. We accept credit cards, cash and Zelle.
Your paperwork is submitted to Xcel Shooting Sports and processed within 24 hours. You receive a confirmation email with your paid invoice and any additional information.
If the gun is in stock it ships and arrives at our Mooresville NC location (as we are an FFL) typically one week after processing. If the gun isn’t in stock, the manufacturer will give us an estimated ship date.
We sell *Shotguns [* Sporting guns *Trap guns *Field Guns] * Rifles and *Handguns
Manufacturers we represent: Caesar Guerini, FABARM, SYREN, Beretta, Fausti, GLOCK, Smith & Wesson, Walther and Trailblazer LifeCard
We can provide pricing and shipping details on any of these lines. Because our guns come from Montana, you don’t pay sales tax on any purchase. Only the price of the gun and shipping! That saves you hundreds of dollars right off the bat.
We will give you order forms to complete and you pay for the gun when you submit the forms. Your paperwork is then processed through Xcel Shooting Sports and you receive a confirmation email with your paid invoice and any additional information.
If your gun is in stock, it ships and is typically delivered to our location in Mooresville NC (as we are an FFL) within about a week. If the gun you ordered is not in stock we will confirm with the manufacturer when it should ship.
When your gun arrives we will call you to let you know it’s here. We then schedule a time for you to come pick it up. Allow 30 – 45 minutes.
Bring your drivers license, concealed carry permit, pistol permit (if buying a handgun) and any other required documentation. Together we will complete your background check paperwork (4473).
Once approved, we then take you through your new purchase, from top to bottom. We talk about everything in your case, what it is, what it’s used for and how it works. We review your warranty. We show you how to put the gun together and take it apart. We do a personalized gun fit so your gun is set up for you when you leave. Lastly, we show you how to clean and maintain your gun.
We want you leaving here feeling comfortable with your new investment.
